with Sue Brayne and Jane Saunderson
The menopause is far more complex than its physiological definition, which says it has happened when menstruation has ceased for twelve months. In fact, the menopause throws us, often painfully and regretfully, into our ageing process. It can take years to come to terms with what is happening to us physically, emotionally, and spiritually but we often keeps this to ourselves for fear of ridicule or dismissal.
This one-day workshop is an opportunity to get together to talk – and laugh – about how the menopause has affected us. It is also provides the chance to talk about difficult issues that often accompany the menopause such as loss of libido, loss of youth, fear of aging, difficulties in relationships, and the search for meaning as we grow older.
Sue is a psychotherapist and writer, and is the author of Sex, Meaning and the Menopause (Continuum Books, 2011).
